It seems this is yet another opportunity for the former president to put the Biden administration on blast, as he views Harris as essentially “Biden 2.0,” armed with the same leftist policies that have brought the country to its knees.
Trump’s enthusiasm for the debate is palpable. He believes it to be a fundamental duty of any Republican candidate to face off with their opponent, regardless of who that may be. The prospect of debating Harris is particularly enticing for him, as he sees her as an extension of the same failed policies that Americans have been struggling with under Biden. In Trump’s mind, going head-to-head with her won’t present any new challenges, and he relishes the idea of highlighting the administration’s missteps in front of the American people.

Furthermore, the debate scenario is interesting, considering his previous commitment to face Biden. Trump emphasized that any terms negotiated previously were specific to a matchup with Biden, not Harris. However, he also seemed to suggest that he’s more than willing to discuss new terms for this fresh bout. This has led to some confusion among the left, with novelist Stephen King jumping the gun, alleging that Trump is backing out of the debate altogether. However, that narrative quickly fell apart when Trump’s team slammed King with a much-deserved reality check.
Despite his willingness to debate, Trump has expressed that he isn’t exactly thrilled with the suggestion of ABC as the host network. He criticized the network for its egregious portrayal of Biden, insisting that they are trying to paint him as America’s favorite president instead of what he truly is—the least favorable president in modern history. Trump pulled no punches, stating that Harris is not the candidate they should be banking on. If ABC thinks they can pull the wool over the eyes of the American public with these portrayals, they have another thing coming.
Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign team is anticipating what might be referred to as a “Harris honeymoon,” a period where her popularity might spike temporarily, aided by the affinity some voters have for her. However, the polling landscape remains a battleground. It can shift at a moment’s notice, especially as Trump is known for his knack for rallying support and exposing contradictions in Democrat policies. The Vegas odds might not be in Harris’s favour once the debates commence, and she has to defend her administration’s track record—an uphill battle for anyone singing the praises of a failing regime.
