In a surprising turn of events, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has chosen not to attack former President Donald Trump, but instead thanked him for his kind words. During a town hall hosted by News Nation, Kennedy refused to engage in personal attacks and emphasized his desire to bring people together. This unconventional approach goes against the overwhelmingly negative view of Trump held by the Democratic Party.

Kennedy expressed his pride in President Trump’s positive opinion of him, stating, “I’m proud that President Trump likes me.” This comes after Trump publicly praised Kennedy on the Howie Carr Show, saying, “Just hang in… He’s a very smart guy, and a good guy.” Trump even described Kennedy as a “common-sense guy,” a title which Kennedy gladly embraced.

Despite disagreeing with President Biden on several policy fronts, Kennedy expressed his admiration for him during the town hall. It seems that Kennedy’s focus is on unity and finding common ground, rather than engaging in divisive politics. “We’ve got to stop hating on each other,” Kennedy passionately stated.
Kennedy’s approach has proven to be a thorn in the side of President Biden and the Democratic National Committee. Despite polling between 10 and 20 percent and gaining support from notable individuals like former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Alicia Silverstone, the DNC has refused to schedule a debate between Biden, Kennedy, and other candidates. It appears that the establishment is not keen on giving Kennedy a platform to challenge the status quo.
Interestingly, Kennedy has been suggested as a potential vice-presidential option if former President Trump secures the GOP nomination in the future. Steve Bannon, former Trump White House advisor and host of War Room, has called for a “unity ticket” between Trump and Kennedy in 2024. Bannon believes that Kennedy would be an excellent choice for Trump to consider. While Kennedy has not openly endorsed this idea, it remains to be seen what the future holds, considering the cordial relationship between the two.
In a political landscape dominated by division and personal attacks, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s refusal to engage in such behavior and his desire for unity are refreshing. Whether or not one agrees with his policy positions, his willingness to find common ground should be commended. It is time for politicians on both sides of the aisle to prioritize cooperation and working towards the betterment of the nation.
