Former President Donald Trump is poised to outperform President Joe Biden in two key areas, according to a recent poll. This news is certainly causing some worry among Democrats who already have enough on their plate trying to defend their president’s lackluster performance. The poll, conducted by Stack Data Strategy, reveals that if an election were held today, Trump would secure victory in the Electoral College with a solid 292 to 246 lead. Ouch!

Now, to be fair, Biden is still on track to win the popular vote, but we all know that the Electoral College is what really matters. It seems Biden’s support is crumbling in four battleground states that he miraculously won in 2020: Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. These states flipped from Trump to Biden in the previous election, denying Trump a second term. But it looks like the tides are turning once again.
The margins in these battleground states are slim, with all of them coming in under 1.5 points. Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin all have a margin of less than 1 point for Biden. The swing is particularly strong in Georgia and Pennsylvania, with margins of plus 2.3 and plus 3.3 points for Trump, respectively. It’s clear that Trump’s base is fired up and ready to fight for him.
The poll also shows that neither Vice President Kamala Harris nor Gov. Gavin Newsom would fare any better against Trump. So, Democrats can’t even hope for a stronger candidate. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it seems that Trump’s popularity hasn’t waned as much as the left would like to believe. Maybe it’s time for Democrats to reevaluate their strategy and listen to the concerns of key voting blocs, like black and Muslim voters, who were more motivated by their opposition to Trump than their support for Biden.
While the left is panicking, third-party organizations aren’t finding much comfort either. The possibility of a unity ticket running against Biden and Trump doesn’t seem promising. No Labels, a prominent third-party group, believes that a Republican candidate on top in eight battleground states would give them the best shot at winning. This is causing further consternation among Democratic lawmakers and their allies, who fear that a third-party effort will only benefit the GOP and secure a Trump victory. It’s a never-ending nightmare for the left.
Overall, it’s clear that the current political landscape is not favoring Biden or his potential replacements. The left may have underestimated Trump’s support and the disillusionment of certain voting blocs. As Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Sen. Richard Blumenthal have expressed, Democrats have their work cut out for them. These poll results are a wake-up call that could spell disaster for the party come 2024. Time to roll up their sleeves and get to work!
