President Trump sat down with Greg Kelly on Newsmax Monday night and spoke plainly like a leader who refuses to look away while our cities burn. He told hardworking Americans he won’t let violent crime become the new normal, and promised federal action to restore order where local Democrats have chosen ideology over safety.
When the president declared, “We’re going to save Chicago,” he wasn’t grandstanding — he was answering the prayers of ordinary citizens fed up with bloodshed and lawlessness. Trump has repeatedly said he’ll deploy the National Guard and federal resources to cities whose left-wing rulers block common-sense enforcement, and he’s right to use every lawful tool to protect innocent lives.
Of course Democrats and their allies screamed about “invasions” and overreach instead of offering solutions, and predictable lawsuits followed — but the courts have so far refused to stand in the way of securing American streets. A federal judge recently declined to immediately block the administration’s moves to send troops and support to Illinois, a clear sign the rule of law still allows the federal government to act when local leaders fail.
Meanwhile, the country faces a self-inflicted government shutdown that the president is using as leverage to push for a reopening before bargaining over health-care subsidies. Trump has made clear he’s willing to negotiate, but not at the expense of keeping the machinery of government and Americans’ benefits shuttered — a practical, no-nonsense stance that Democrats would do well to respect.
On the world stage, President Trump is pushing a bold Gaza peace plan that has already produced movement, including Hamas accepting parts of a deal that could free hostages and begin a durable ceasefire. Critics will howl, as they always do when America asserts leadership, but ordinary Americans know that peace is worth firm diplomacy and decisive action, not endless dithering.
Even cultural battles can’t be ignored: the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl halftime has lit up conservatives, who see it as one more example of elites rubbing their woke preferences in the faces of middle America. This fight might sound trivial next to crime and foreign policy, but it’s part of the same pattern — institutions making choices that alienate the very people who keep this country running.
Patriots should be grateful we have a president who will not bow to the soft-on-crime, virtue-signaling crowd that has weakened our cities and our culture. If Democrats would rather posture and file lawsuits than secure neighborhoods, then the White House is right to step in and save lives — and the American people will remember who acted when it counted.
