Former President Donald J. Trump fired back at the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that booted him from the 2024 Presidential Election, calling it “A sad day in America” in a fiery post on the Truth Social platform. The polarizing political figure, a clear favorite in the GOP Presidential Primary according to all the official polls, was barred from appearing on the Colorado ballot after the state Supreme Court claimed Trump had “committed insurrection” on January 6th, 2021.
The unprecedented use of the 14th Amendment as grounds for disqualification has sparked an uproar among legal experts from both sides of the political aisle, with even a Justice appointed by the Democrats on the same Court unleashing a scathing dissent. Trump doubled down in another post, demanding that President Biden drop the “fake political indictments” against him and decrying the situation as “election interference” and a “shame for our Country!!!”

In a scathing statement, Trump Campaign Spokesman Steven Cheung lambasted the ruling, pointing fingers at the “all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court,” accusing them of siding with a “Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election” to benefit “Crooked Joe Biden.” He painted a picture of a paranoid Democratic Party leadership trying to stifle the will of the American voters in the face of Trump’s overwhelming lead in the polls. Cheung promised a swift appeal to the United States Supreme Court, condemning the decision as “completely flawed” and “deeply undemocratic.”
The former President rallied his supporters by reposting a video of Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley condemning the court’s decision as “the most anti-democratic opinion I’ve seen in my lifetime.” The posturing and legal jockeying from both sides sets the stage for what is sure to be a contentious and closely watched legal battle leading up to the 2024 election.
