Trump Shames Democrats, Forces Epic Internet Blunder Deletion

You really couldn’t script a more humiliating social media flop for the Democratic Party. In a bold attempt to redirect economic frustration, the DNC recently posted a chart on X (formerly Twitter) blaming Donald Trump for surging grocery prices. Much to the internet’s delight, the visual told a completely different story: grocery prices barely budged under Trump, then shot up as soon as President Biden took office, hitting record highs during his term. Unsurprisingly, the DNC yanked the post—but not before vigilant users preserved it for posterity and turned it into instant meme fodder.

Anyone paying for a cart of groceries these days doesn’t need a graph to know the pain at checkout. Biden’s time in office saw food costs skyrocket—more than 21% higher by 2025, fueled by runaway inflation and failed economic policies that even the most loyal Democrats have trouble defending. Contrast that with Trump’s presidency, which saw relatively flat prices, and you begin to understand why this “attack” ad ended up as an unintended endorsement.

Social media had a field day, with conservative commentators and everyday Americans alike piling on the DNC’s misstep. Jokes poured in—many highlighting what’s obvious to families on a budget but less so to political operatives in Washington: leadership matters when it comes to economic stability, and the Biden administration’s record is hard to defend when the facts are laid bare in a simple line chart. The decision to delete the post only guaranteed that the embarrassment would go viral.

What makes the episode especially telling is how desperate Democrats seem to be to rewrite reality. As inflation hammered middle-class families and turned simple staples into luxury items, the left clung to narratives that simply don’t hold up under scrutiny. This chart fiasco exposed the party’s disconnect with everyday economic hardships and showed just how difficult it is to spin numbers when people are living the consequences every day.

Perhaps the biggest lesson here is the importance of honesty—both with the numbers and with the American public. In trying to weaponize data, the DNC unintentionally gave voters a clear reminder of who delivered economic pain and who’s offering a pathway out. Next time the Democrats try to play the numbers game, they’d do well to check the scoreboard first—or risk turning their next talking point into another viral self-own.
