In a comedic twist fit for a Hollywood blockbuster, former President Donald Trump made a stormy entrance at the Republican National Convention, guarded by none other than security officers from liberal-dominated California. Yes, you read that right, Gov. Gavin Newsom, the Democrat at the helm of the nation’s bluest state, sent 61 officers to protect the man he loves to hate.
It turns out, public safety really does transcend party lines. Gov. Newsom, who rarely misses a chance to throw shade at Trump, suddenly became his unlikely protector after a shocking assassination attempt. Last Saturday, in the Keystone State’s rally, a lunatic managed to kill one attendee and graze Trump’s ear with a bullet. Yes, lefties, your dreams of Trump taking an early retirement were dashed.
Newsom didn’t stop with just sending officers. He made sure to publicly condemn the would-be assassin. He posted on X about how violence has no place in democracy, offering thoughts and prayers to Trump and everyone else affected by the tragic event. Quite ironic, coming from a guy who previously compared Trump to Hitler. A Hitler comparison, really? It’s as if comparing a president who made America energy independent and bolstered the economy to a genocidal maniac wasn’t inflammatory enough already.

Intriguingly, Newsom’s decision to bolster the RNC’s security didn’t start post-attack. Back in May, he made the move to enhance law enforcement measures for the high-profile event. However, after the violent chaos in Pennsylvania, the efficiency of this political odd couple’s security plan had to be reviewed and scrutinized. Critics argue that Newsom’s own divisive rhetoric could have fueled the attack, yet he’s now playing the savior? Talk about a plot twist.
The Secret Service, not one to miss out on the drama, announced that they revamped and reinforced their security protocols for the convention in Wisconsin. With the help of Federal, state, and local agencies, it’s all hands on deck to decipher the whys and hows behind the Pennsylvania incident and make sure another episode like this never happens again. It seems protecting a former President in today’s America requires more plot armor than a villain in a soap opera.
