Super Bowl 59 turned into a mini rally for Donald Trump as the cameras caught the former president in the spotlight during the national anthem, much to the thrill of the crowd at Caesars Superdome. Ivanka also got in on the action ahead of the big game by letting fans know she was on her way to New Orleans via her X account. The Trump family did not travel light this time. Alongside Eric Trump and his wife Lara, the entourage included a parade of Republicans, making it a veritable who’s who of GOP might. Names like Doug Burgum, Tom Emmer, Lindsey Graham, and others packed into Air Force One, which is becoming known as “The Party Plane” for such occasions. It’s almost enough to make one wish there was a GOP halftime show, featuring none other than the Trump family.
Batiste may have his five Grammys and a slew of nominations, but one must wonder if he expected to perform the anthem before a crowd roaring for Trump instead of raving about his musical prowess. Perhaps next time he should consider throwing in a patriotic twist or two—who could resist a tune that makes you think of fireworks, eagles, and freedom while you sing?
In any case, the cheers for Trump signified a broader sentiment among many Americans: patriotism is alive and kicking. Super Bowl Sunday may have its fair share of distractions, but there’s nothing quite like the sight of a proud Trump family member standing for the national anthem to remind everyone what really matters.
