Former President Donald Trump continues to dominate the North Dakota presidential caucuses, edging closer and closer to clinching the Republican nomination once again. With the Associated Press declaring his victory around 9:20 EST, Trump secured a solid win in the state, further solidifying his position as the frontrunner for the nomination. Though the exact number of delegates won has not been announced, should Trump claim them all, his national delegate count would skyrocket to 276, leaving former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s 43 delegates in the dust.
The caucuses saw Trump, Haley, and other lesser-known candidates like Ryan Binkley and David Stuckenberg vying for support in the state. It came as no surprise that Trump emerged as the clear victor, given his overwhelming success in previous primary contests. Even former presidential candidate Gov. Doug Burgum, who backed Trump after suspending his own campaign, is set to lend his support virtually, further cementing Trump’s stronghold in North Dakota.

While Haley managed to secure her first primary victory in Washington, D.C., snagging all 19 delegates, she still faces an uphill battle in the race against Trump. With the crucial Super Tuesday looming, where a whopping 865 delegates are at stake, Trump is widely expected to continue his winning streak and amass a vast majority of those delegates.
In the grand scheme of things, the North Dakota caucuses are merely a warm-up for Super Tuesday, which holds immense significance in determining the trajectory of the Republican nomination race. With the ultimate goal being to secure 1,215 delegates out of 2,429, it’s becoming increasingly evident that Trump is paving the way for another shot at the presidency.
