Another innocent life lost. Another criminal gets a free pass. That’s how the broken liberal system works these days. Iryna Zarutska, just 23 years old and seeking a better life in America, was brutally stabbed to death on a Charlotte light rail train. The accused killer? A 35-year-old homeless career criminal who’s racked up trouble everywhere he goes. But instead of getting justice, the state court ruled him “mentally incompetent” to stand trial. Let that sink in—a murderer walks free because he’s declared unfit, while a grieving family is told to wait and hope for a miracle.
It’s the same story we’ve seen over and over: career criminals protected by a soft-on-crime system. Liberals shout about “compassion” and “fairness,” but it’s regular Americans who end up paying the price. Why should we keep coddling those who destroy our communities, rob our safety, and take lives like Iryna’s?

Thankfully, the Trump administration refuses to sit back while justice slips away. Unlike the state officials, who bend over backward for criminals, President Trump’s team is stepping in with the heavy hand of federal law. They won’t let red tape and activist judges shield this killer from accountability. Finally, someone is willing to bring the federal hammer down where states have failed. That’s leadership, not weakness.
While liberal politicians worry more about criminals’ “feelings” than innocent lives, Trump is focused on fixing what’s broken. America was built on law and order, not on endless excuses. The families of crime victims have suffered long enough under policies that put criminals first. Enough is enough.
When will progressives realize that protecting our people means holding criminals accountable? How many more families have to be shattered before common sense wins out? Trump’s move should be a wake-up call: the days of letting killers skate by are numbered. Maybe it’s time the left finally cared more about victims than villains.
