In a tragic incident outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, a man detonated a vehicle near the iconic site, sending shockwaves through the community and the 24-hour news cycle. The driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded was identified as Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old former U.S. Army Green Beret from Colorado Springs.
Initially, reports were suggesting that Livelsberger might have harbored a deep-seated hate for former President Donald Trump. However, his family revealed that he was a staunch Trump supporter and wore his patriotism on his sleeve. Livelsberger’s background reads like a military resume that would put most action heroes to shame. He served in the U.S. Army for 19 years, with 18 of those years in the elite Special Forces. Despite having extensive military training and experience, the explosive device used in the incident appeared to be amateurish, consisting of propane tanks, fireworks, and camping fuel.
The explosion occurred just hours after a deadly vehicle-ramming attack in New Orleans, which killed at least 15 people. However, officials have stated that there is no direct connection between the two incidents. Livelsberger died in the blast, and seven people sustained minor injuries from the explosion. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other authorities are investigating the incident as a possible act of terror but have not yet determined a motive.
Matthew Livelsberger rented the silver Tesla Cybertruck via Turo, a car-sharing service. His family described him as someone who loved the Army and was very patriotic. His uncle mentioned that Matthew was like a “Rambo-type” and had extensive military skills but chose an unconventional method for the explosive device.
The investigation is ongoing, with multiple agencies involved, including the FBI and local law enforcement. Authorities are currently examining Livelsberger’s electronic devices and social media activity for insights into his motivations. The incident has raised several questions about Livelsberger’s intentions and the circumstances surrounding his death.
