In a bizarre turn of events, the New York City courthouse that has been the stage for former President Donald Trump’s legal battles was evacuated after a fire was set on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred after testimony in the civil trial had concluded, leaving a lot of questions hanging in the air. According to the New York Post, a sergeant and a court officer suffered injuries and were taken to the New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital for observation. The source of the fire was a mischievous individual who decided to set ablaze some papers and then used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, as reported by court representative Al Baker. This person, who is currently in custody, allegedly had some litigation before the courts housed at the courthouse, according to NBC. The motive behind this fiery episode remains a mystery for now.
Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over Trump’s civil trial, was among those who had to be evacuated.
