The first primary debate for the Republican candidates will take place tonight in Wisconsin. The event will be moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum of Fox News.
Although Donald Trump won’t be participating in the debate, his campaign advisor Chris LaCivita claimed that the Republican nominee has already won the event. He noted that Trump is the only candidate with the necessary policy ideas and polling numbers to compete against Joe Biden.
According to LaCivita, the hosts of Fox News will be very interested in Trump and will ask the other candidates about their reactions to his policies. He noted that the network will be keeping track of how many times Trump's name will be mentioned throughout the debate.
He also didn't hold back in his praise for Trump's record as the president. LaCivita noted that his first four years of his administration have been the most impactful in US history. He said that no other candidate can match Trump's bold policy ideas and proposals. Among the areas where Trump has outlined plans are tackling inflation, securing the border, defeating drug cartels, fighting crime, and putting an end to Ukraine's violence.
Team Trump also thinks that the debate is just a formality, as they already secured their spot on the Trump Train for the second term.
Not everyone was pleased with Trump's decision not to participate in the debate. His rivals criticized him for not showing up and accused him of assuming that he already has enough support from the Republican Party.
