Once, possessing a college degree from a reputable institution was regarded as a mark of accomplishment and competence. It signified that you had received a high-quality education and were prepared to make meaningful contributions to society. Regrettably, the true nature of academia has been unveiled, and the revelations are far from flattering.
On October 7th, a disconcerting incident unfolded when numerous students and faculty members from various colleges left their ivory towers to express support for the indiscriminate killing of innocent Israeli civilians by Islamic terrorists. This shocking and deeply troubling display laid bare the moral bankruptcy within these institutions.
Predictably, the response from the Biden administration to this distressing behavior left much to be desired. Their efforts included meetings with Jewish organizations, plans to collaborate with campus law enforcement, and the proposal of a "national strategy" to combat Islamophobia. These measures, though well-intentioned, fell short of addressing the gravity of the situation.

However, former President Donald Trump, always an advocate for bold solutions, offered an alternative path. In a recent post on his new social media platform, Truth Social, Trump criticized universities that have, in his view, become breeding grounds for communism and sympathy towards terrorism. He proposed an unconventional solution: the establishment of a new university funded by the substantial financial resources derived from taxing, fining, and litigating against excessively large private university endowments. This innovative institution, known as the American Academy, would provide a top-tier education to all Americans, free of charge.
Trump emphasized that the American Academy would be entirely self-sustaining, not contributing a single dime to the national debt. It would offer high-quality educational content online, including lectures, study groups, mentorship programs, and industry partnerships. What sets it apart is its commitment to being strictly non-political, with a clear declaration that "no wokeness or jihadism" would be tolerated. Finally, a university where students could focus on learning without being subjected to indoctrination by radical ideologies.
Critics may find flaws in Trump's proposal, but his commitment to addressing the issues plaguing our education system is evident. From banning critical race theory to safeguarding students' First Amendment rights, Trump has demonstrated a strong dedication to education reform. It's no wonder that many place their trust in his ability to fulfill his promises in 2024 and beyond.
In this digital age, embracing digital solutions may be the way forward. Online education, once viewed as inferior, gained prominence during the COVID-19 lockdowns when in-person classes were impractical. The American Academy would not only serve as an alternative to traditional on-campus education but also shield students from the influence of far-left faculty and their radical agendas.
Whether or not Trump's vision becomes a reality, it's heartening to see a leader who is willing to challenge the status quo and advocate for the improvement of our education system. While some may criticize his ideas, there's no denying that he offers a fresh perspective that has the potential to effect significant change.
