The decision made by President Biden to visit East Palestine, Ohio, a year subsequent to the train derailment and chemical release, is, to put it mildly, dubious. It is difficult to believe that astute Democrats and elites did not play a role in this, perhaps even attempting to further lower his approval rating. Former first lady Michelle Obama's rumored status as the next surrogate candidate notwithstanding, their involvement in the matter would not be unexpected.

Residents will be further reminded of Biden's callousness and contempt for the American heartland during this visit. His tardiness is inextricably linked to the visit of former President Trump mere weeks following the accident. Trump demonstrated benevolence and solace by delivering essential provisions and affirming that the community would not be neglected. His support for Senator J.D. Vance exemplified genuine leadership.
Biden, conversely, was not motivated to attend the event. He appointed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in his stead, but only after the administration's contemptuous response was brought to light by Trump's visit. Considering the number of vacation days he has taken since the incident, Biden's justification that he simply lacked sufficient time in his schedule is hardly legitimate.
Evidently, Biden's visit is a pretense, and it is probable that it will not yield the desired results—reminding Americans in the heartland that he was absent when they required assistance. East Palestine emanates an offensive odor that extends beyond the presence of hazardous substances. Trump and his campaign ought to adopt a more comprehensive approach, as further revelations lie ahead. Although this visit represents a naive attempt by Biden to regain public favor, the residents will not soon forget his carelessness.
