Trump Warns: Biden’s Green New Deal Puts China in Driver’s Seat, Michigan in Rearview!

In a post on his new social media platform, Truth Social, former President Donald Trump warned United Auto Workers (UAW) members that President Joe Biden’s green agenda, specifically his plan to transition to electric vehicles (EVs), will be detrimental to Michigan’s auto industry and beneficial for China. Trump emphasized that if Biden’s concept of “all Electric Cars” goes into effect, the auto industry in Michigan will be completely wiped out, leaving China to take over. Trump urged UAW members to vote for him, promising to preserve their jobs and bring in even more opportunities. He also highlighted the importance of having choices not just in schools but also in cars.

The UAW has been critical of Biden’s green energy agenda, expressing concerns about the impact on wages. Under the Inflation Reduction Act, automakers receive tax credits for producing EVs in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. UAW President Shawn Fain pointed out that while the “Big Three” automakers (Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis) are benefiting from government subsidies to go electric, workers are not reaping the same rewards. Fain believes that the corporate elite and billionaire class are the ones benefiting the most, while UAW members are left behind. He specifically mentioned GM’s closure of its manufacturing plant in Lordstown, Ohio, which resulted in thousands of layoffs. Despite the opening of an EV battery plant in partnership with LG, the promised high-paying green energy jobs have not materialized, and wages have been slashed in half.

This highlights the detrimental impact of Biden’s green agenda on the livelihoods of working-class Americans, particularly those in the auto industry. It is evident that the UAW is wary of endorsing Biden’s administration until they see concrete support for their concerns. Trump’s warning serves as a reminder that prioritizing policies that benefit China over American workers is not a sustainable strategy. The auto industry, once a backbone of Michigan’s economy, cannot afford to be left behind as other countries invest heavily in EV production. Biden’s green agenda must consider the potential consequences for American jobs and ensure that workers are not left behind in the push for cleaner energy alternatives.
