Former President Donald Trump is facing a lot of legal battles, but luckily for him, he’s got a bunch of generous donors to help foot the bill. Recent reports from the Federal Election Commission reveal that Trump’s Save America PAC and Make America Great Again PAC spent around $50 million in 2023 on legal fees. Yep, you heard it right—$50 million! That’s a whole lot of cash to keep Trump out of hot water.
So, where did all that money go? Well, a big chunk of it went towards Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York, where the attorney general is gunning for a whopping $370 million from him, his sons, and a couple of other folks. The Save America PAC shelled out a hefty $11 million for that mess. And who got the biggest slice of that legal fee pie? Chris Kise & Associates and Continental PLLC raked in a cool $3.3 million and $3.6 million, respectively. Cha-ching!

But wait, there’s more! The Trump brothers had their own legal tab to foot, totaling a jaw-dropping $3.9 million. That’s some serious green to defend themselves against accusations of tax fraud and falsifying business records. Meanwhile, California lawyer Harmeet Dhillon snagged a sweet $4.61 million. She’s on deck to take on the case trying to block Trump from state ballots and dealing with a Supreme Court review. Talk about a pricey legal showdown!
And let’s not forget the defamation case brought by columnist E. Jean Carroll. Alina Habba and Michael Madaio cleaned up with over $4 million for that battle. To add to the legal bill madness, Trump was recently ordered to pay Carroll a staggering $83.3 million for repeatedly defaming her. Ouch—that’s gotta hurt the ol’ bank account!
But the legal spending spree doesn’t end there. Trump also shelled out $2.6 million to John Lauro for the federal indictment accusing him of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election. And those folks at Blanche Law? They snagged nearly $2.3 million for their work on multiple criminal cases tied to Trump.
