Trump’s Team Targets Kim Kardashian Over LA Riots Involvement

In the latest episode of American Celebrities vs. Common Sense, we find Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry embroiled in a peculiar feud with the Department of Homeland Security over—you guessed it—deportations. Yes, folks, it seems that these Hollywood stars believe they can manage the complexities of immigration policy better than the officials tasked with the job. In their world, celebrities hold the wisdom of titans, and their palatial homes in Beverly Hills could, theoretically, double as havens for anyone they wish to welcome across our borders. Yet, oddly enough, these doors remain firmly closed to the criminal elements they seem to champion online.

Kim Kardashian has taken to social media, lamenting the harsh realities faced by the so-called “innocent, hardworking” illegal aliens. The word on the street—or rather, the word from Kim’s carefully managed Instagram account—is that tearing families apart is a grave injustice. This message rings somewhat hollow when you consider her silence on other grave injustices, such as the violent crimes committed by some illegal aliens that ICE is diligently trying to prevent. While Kim types away behind her securely guarded gates, ICE agents are out in the real world, rounding up serious offenders—murderers and child traffickers alike—so that ordinary Americans don’t have to worry about them roaming their neighborhoods.

Katy Perry, meanwhile, is engaging in a little historical revisionism, suggesting that California, among other territories, should be returned to Mexico or perhaps even Spain. One can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of this notion, since it overlooks centuries of history and glosses over the complexities of land ownership and cultural development. It’s almost like saying we should give Texas back to the buffalo. But why stop there? Should we also give Florida to the Dutch or Louisiana to the French? These ideas don’t hold up to scrutiny, though they might get a few retweets from the uninformed.

In true celebrity fashion, Kim and Katy cling to their utopian visions without ever having to grapple with the realities their policies would create. If they so deeply believe in providing sanctuary, perhaps a logical first step would be to open their vast estates and luxury ranches to those they champion. Why is it always someone else’s community that should bear the burden? This curious form of advocacy might make for good PR, but it certainly doesn’t help the everyday American who deals with the consequences.

Adding to the irony is the fact that these celebrities benefit enormously from the safety and security afforded by the same policies they publicly decry. Kim Kardashian, insulated by her multi-million-dollar lifestyle, is quick to criticize ICE—except, of course, when it comes to dealing with a Canadian stalker who threatened her sister’s safety. Then, deportation suddenly becomes justifiable. It’s a classic case of “rules for thee, but not for me,” a refrain we’re all too familiar with when it comes to Hollywood elites.

So why not call out the obvious hypocrisy? While these multimillionaires are busy bullying law enforcement agencies on social media, perhaps they should consider turning their concern into tangible action. After all, the true mark of sincerity is putting your money—and let’s be honest, they have plenty of it—where your mouth is. Until then, maybe they should stick to what they know best, like selfies and reality TV, and leave the serious business of national security to the professionals.
