In a recent study of vocabularies, the infamous former President Donald Trump has been declared as having a better grip on his word usage compared to his successor, President Joe Biden. The study, conducted by the communication executive promoting the study “WordFinder,” found that Trump’s speeches boast a 26.8% lexical diversity, while Biden falls short with a 25.8% score. This shows that Trump’s repertoire of words outshines Biden’s, with the latter rarely making public speeches.

Conversely, the study also noted that neither Trump nor Biden hold a candle to the late President Ronald Reagan, popularly known as the “Great Communicator.” The group behind the study, “WordFinder,” shared the latest report on the lexical diversity of world leaders with Secrets, affirming former Vice President Al Gore’s superior word diversity, coming in at a remarkable 42%.
Interestingly, it was revealed that both Trump and Biden’s most frequently used word is “people,” though Biden’s fondness for the word “president” raises a few eyebrows, as if he needs constant reminding of his position. Additionally, the study even compared the lexical diversity of renowned figure Elon Musk, whose score was lower than Biden’s. This goes to show that using a wide range of words may not always make for riveting speeches, as evidenced by Musk’s lower diversity score.
The WordFinder analysis emphasized that both Trump and Biden’s lexical diversity scores, along with Musk’s, were relatively lower than those of most others in the study. This suggests that their communication styles exhibit a more focused and consistent use of language. However, it’s essential to note that a higher lexical diversity does not necessarily equate to effective communication, as demonstrated by human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, whose lexical diversity reached an impressive 56.2%.
