U.S. Forces Target Venezuela’s Oil to Cripple Maduro’s Regime

America’s hard-earned strength on the world stage just flexed in defense of liberty, as U.S. forces moved decisively against sanctioned Venezuela-linked tankers and maritime networks that have been propping up Nicolás Maduro’s kleptocratic regime. The seizure of multiple very large crude carriers linked to Caracas shows that when the brave act, deterrence follows and illicit oil flows can be choked off.

The pressure on Venezuela’s state oil company is already real and immediate: storage is filling, exports have plunged, and Caracas is being forced to cut production as tankers sit idle as floating storage. That pain is the point — Maduro’s cash lifeline has been strangled by smart, relentless action that targets the regime’s revenue rather than American consumers or soldiers.

Washington’s next move is right and necessary: control of Maduro’s export revenue is leverage, and the Biden-era appeasers who told us restraint was moral are being proven wrong by the alternative. Senior U.S. officials have signaled that controlling and marketing Venezuelan oil — so its proceeds can benefit the Venezuelan people and support a transition — is on the table, and that leverage must be used to demand accountability and democracy.

Congressman Dan Crenshaw told viewers on Newsmax’s The Record with Greta Van Susteren that the ultimate goal is simple and patriotic: free and fair elections for the Venezuelan people, not another corrupt puppet in Caracas. That should be noncontroversial to every American who believes in self-determination; our intervention must be a hammer that creates the conditions for ballots, not chaos.

Patriots know the score: we do not cower from regimes that traffic in narcotics, tyranny, and mass migration, and we will not apologize for using American might and moral clarity to back freedom. Now is the time for Republicans and Democrats who love liberty to stand united behind a strategy that deprives Maduro of cash, protects American energy interests, and secures genuine elections for Venezuelans longing to be free.
