Decarlos Brown Jr. had been arrested over and over again for more than ten years. He served five years in prison for armed robbery but was walking free when he killed Zarutska. The system failed this innocent woman who fled a war zone only to die in what should have been a safe American city. Brown was homeless and mentally ill, yet no one kept him off the streets.
The August 22nd attack was caught on camera and shows the pure evil of this senseless crime. Zarutska simply sat down on the train when Brown pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times. She died at the scene while her killer was arrested. There was no security guard on the train to protect passengers from dangerous criminals.
This murder is the direct result of soft-on-crime policies that Democrats have pushed for years. They care more about protecting criminals than innocent victims like Zarutska. Republican Rep. Mark Harris called this violence part of a national epidemic caused by liberal policies. He is absolutely right.
The criminal justice system treated Brown like a revolving door instead of keeping him locked up where he belonged. He had mental health problems and a history of violence, yet liberal judges kept letting him go free.
