After the terrible attack by Hamas on October 7th, the United Nations demonstrated just how clueless and inappropriate they can be with their response. Instead of condemning the vicious attack and calling out the terrorist group responsible, the UN Women account decided it was more important to focus on pushing some weird agenda about “trans lesbians” on International Lesbian Day, which is just ridiculous. It took them nearly two months to even express concern for the women who were victims of the attack, and even then, their remarks were pretty lackluster.

The UN Women Instagram account finally posted something on November 25th, claiming they were “alarmed” by reports of gender-based violence, but it’s hard to believe their concern considering how little they’ve spoken out against the atrocities committed by Hamas. It’s pretty telling that their initial post, which did call out Hamas, was taken down once the first round of hostages was released. Seems like they only care about looking good instead of actually standing up for what’s right.
When asked about the strange and insensitive posts, UN Women tried to pass it off as a scheduling mistake and claimed that their priorities changed after some hostages were released. But let’s be real, the damage was already done. While innocent Israeli women and girls were suffering, the UN Women’s Instagram account was too busy with their “16 Days of Activism” to give them the attention they deserved. Meanwhile, the hashtag “#MeToo_UNless_UR_A_Jew” was trending on social media, showing just how much the UN Women failed to speak up for Israeli women.
Not only did the UN Women account fail to condemn Hamas directly, but they repeatedly focused on calling for a ceasefire and showed a clear bias against Israel in their social media posts. They even used anti-Israel language and only offered perspectives from those in Gaza, completely ignoring the suffering of Israeli women. Even their Executive Director, Sima Bahous, showed a blatant disregard for the Israeli victims by emphasizing the plight of Palestinians in her remarks. It’s pretty clear where their true allegiances lie.
The UN Women’s one-sided concern and lack of empathy for Israeli women and girls is just disgraceful. Instead of standing up for all women, they chose to play politics and push their own agenda. It’s a shame that an organization with such a powerful platform would use it to further division and discrimination. But hey, what more can we expect from the United Nations? They’ve always been more concerned with appeasing the bad guys than standing up for what’s right.
