In a surprising move, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is pointing fingers at his fellow Republican senators for the failure of the migration bill that he secretly drafted with Democrat leaders. McConnell claims that they didn’t want to deal with it because they knew it would never become law. But let’s be real here, McConnell was the mastermind behind this bill, using it as a way to win more funding for his precious war against Russia in Ukraine. It’s no wonder the bill collapsed as soon as it was released to GOP voters and senators who actually care about the American people.

But of course, the media is spinning the narrative to make it seem like McConnell and the Democrats were the heroes of this story. Politico even went so far as to call it the “most conservative immigration bill backed by a Democratic president in a generation.” Give me a break! This bill did nothing to address the crisis at our southern border and only served to increase the flow of cheap labor into our country. And let’s not forget that a majority of Americans oppose Biden’s disastrous immigration policies, despite what the media may want you to believe.
But here’s the silver lining in all of this. The failure of this bill will only serve to keep Biden’s unpopular migration record front and center in the 2024 campaign. And we all remember what happened in 2014 when Schumer pushed through the Gang of Eight amnesty bill – the Republicans gained seats in the Senate. So maybe, just maybe, this fiasco will actually work in McConnell’s favor.
It’s clear that the media is in bed with the Washington insiders, painting them as the noble heroes and anyone who disagrees as the villains. In their eyes, Trump is the chaotic outsider who ruined everything, when in reality he was the one who stood up for the American people and their interests. And mark my words, Trump will be back in the White House come next year, and McConnell will be left to pick up the pieces of his failed leadership.
So let’s not let McConnell off the hook here. He may not be the sole cause of this migration bill fiasco, but he certainly played a major role in its downfall. And as he approaches his eighty-second birthday, it’s clear that McConnell’s grip on power is slipping. The collapse of this bill has weakened his position within his own party, and it’s time for someone with a better plan to step up and take the lead.
