Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, the underdog in the Democratic Party’s nomination race, received surprising news that could cause trouble for President Joe Biden. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in his favor, allowing Phillips’ name to appear on state ballots. Thank goodness for the common sense of the Wisconsin Supreme Court!
The court’s decision overturned a previous ruling by a bipartisan presidential selection committee, which tried to keep Phillips out of the election. Phillips argued in court that he should be allowed on the ballot because state law grants access to candidates recognized in the national news media. It’s refreshing to see a Democrat fighting for fairness, even if it’s just to take a jab at Biden and his cronies.
Phillips made it clear that he sees this as a battle against the insider elites of his own party who are attempting to rig the process for Biden. Bravo, Phillips! We need more Democrats like him who are willing to stand up to their own party and fight for the democratic process. After all, democracy isn’t just about fighting against Donald Trump; it’s about holding everyone accountable, even if they have a “D” next to their name.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice argued that the presidential selection committee has the authority to determine who appears on the ballots. But the state’s highest judicial body saw through their charade and declared that the committee did not properly exercise discretion. It’s about time someone called out the Democrats for their lack of transparency and arbitrary decision-making.
While Phillips may not have a realistic chance of beating Biden, his campaign could shine a light on the weaknesses of the President. One glaring weakness is the lack of enthusiasm among Democrats for Biden’s candidacy. A recent poll showed that only 18% of Democratic primary voters were “very enthusiastic” about supporting Biden, compared to a whopping 44% for former President Donald Trump among Republican primary voters. Talk about a enthusiasm gap!
This poll just confirms what we already knew – Biden lacks the passion and support that Trump had. It’s no wonder his presidency is off to such a lackluster start. It’s time for Democrats to wake up and realize that their chosen leader doesn’t inspire the same level of excitement as Trump did. But hey, if Phillips can bring attention to this issue and shake things up in the Democratic Party, then more power to him! Let the chaos commence!
