Union Boss Turned Fraudster: Ex-Cop Chief Gets Hard Time!

Oh boy, another corrupt official caught red-handed! It looks like Ed Mullins, the former chief of the Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA), has landed himself in quite the predicament. The FBI swooped into the SBA headquarters and found that Mullins had been lining his pockets with hundreds of thousands of dollars of union funds. Talk about a major betrayal!

Now, Mullins will be spending some quality time behind bars. The judge sentenced him to two years in federal prison, and he’ll also have to forfeit a whopping $600,000 to the government and pay the same amount back to the union. That’s a lot of moolah! And get this: our dear old friend Mullins had received over $1 million in reimbursements from the SBA during his scam. It turns out, most of that money was obtained fraudulently. Yikes!

But wait, there’s more! Once Mullins is released from prison, he’ll have to endure three years of supervised release. It’s like having a nanny watching your every move, but with ankle bracelets instead of a stroller.

In true “I’m sorry” fashion, Mullins expressed remorse in court, blabbering on about wanting to make things right and restore what he’s taken from others. Sorry, pal, but it’s not that simple. You can’t just steal a million bucks and expect a little speech to fix everything. Nice try, though.

The SBA, which represents around 13,000 active and retired police officers, didn’t have much to say about this whole mess. They didn’t even respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment. Can’t blame them for wanting to distance themselves from this scandal.

Oh, and let’s not forget about the little tiff between former mayor Bill de Blasio and Mullins. Those two really had some bad blood. De Blasio even dissed Mullins, saying he had no respect for the SBA’s leadership. That definitely rubbed Mullins the wrong way. He responded by outing de Blasio’s daughter’s arrest records. Talk about a low blow!

Anyway, it’s safe to say that Mullins will no longer be playing on the police union’s team. He resigned as president of the SBA and retired from the New York Police Department. Good riddance, I say! Nobody needs a cheater and a thief in their ranks. Vincent J. Vallelong, you have big shoes to fill as Mullins’ replacement. Don’t let us down!
