Vance and Trump Rally Conservatives at RNC Day Three

Day three of the Republican National Convention featured a lineup that few could ignore, headlined by none other than Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who took to the stage with a fervor only matched by his boss, Donald Trump. The theme for the night was “Make America Strong Once Again,” and it felt more like a rally for keeping this great nation from sinking into the abyss.

Taking a page out of Trump’s book, Vance emphasized unity and the working class, aiming straight for the heart of Middle America. With Saturday’s assassination attempt on Trump still fresh in everyone’s minds, Vance didn’t waste any time reminding the audience of the close call. He hammered home the point that Trump had sacrificed so much for the everyday American, even though he had no personal need for politics, but the country needed him more than ever.

Trump’s choice of Vance as a running mate might have raised some eyebrows among the establishment figures, but the delegates at the convention seemed satisfied, if not thrilled. Clint Pate, a Florida delegate from Jackson County, mentioned that Vance is a true conservative, a sentiment that seemed to be widely shared. It’s almost as if the GOP faithful have found in Vance another warrior for their cause.

Before Vance’s speech, the crowd was warmed up by Donald Trump Jr. and his daughter Kai. The young Trump delivered an emotional, personal portrayal of her grandfather, counteracting the media’s relentless negative depiction. If any hearts were left unharmed, they were soon swayed by the poignant testimonials of Gold Star families who shared their sorrow over the botched U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. They excoriated Biden, making it clear that he had failed in his duties as Commander-in-Chief, a sentiment echoed by the crowd’s nodding heads.

As if the night couldn’t be packed with more drama, Peter Navarro made a rather triumphant return to the public eye after a brief stint in prison. Navarro’s bold statement about going to prison so others wouldn’t have to ride the waves of discontent had a certain resonance among the convention-goers. Navarro’s spirits seem nearly indomitable, much like Trump’s.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the political spectrum, Joe Biden announced his latest bout of COVID-19, a diagnosis he remarkably spun into a fundraising opportunity before heading off to Delaware for some isolation. This raises the question of just how convenient one illness can be for someone desperate to shift the political narrative.

And while Biden entertains fantasies of reforming the Supreme Court with term limits and binding codes of ethics, even Democrats realize these ideas have as much fate as snow in July. Yet, the whispers of such changes make it clear how rattled the left is by the sturdy conservative majority on the court. Scratch the surface, and it’s hard not to see this as a Hail Mary to gain some love from his base, especially as Biden’s approval ratings hit new lows.

Finally, the RNC is set for a grand finale, with Trump closing out the event himself. Rewriting his speech following the assassination attempt, Trump is poised to set the arena alight, reaffirming to the American people just why they put their faith in him. So, grab some popcorn and buckle up; the show is far from over.
