Viral Video Sparks Outrage Over Planet Fitness Bathroom Policies

A disturbing viral video out of Concord, California shows what appears to be a person performing a sex act inside the women’s bathroom at a Planet Fitness, footage a gymgoer recorded last May that only recently exploded online. The clip—captured by member Grace Hutson and shared on social platforms—casts a long shadow over the chain’s much-criticized locker-room policies and has Americans asking how this was allowed to happen.

In the footage you can see the silhouette of an individual in a restroom stall engaging in clearly sexual behavior while other female patrons were present and uncomfortable; Hutson says she alerted staff at the time and regretted not calling the police. That inaction by employees—reported repeatedly in local coverage—speaks to a corporate culture that prioritizes procedure and ideology over immediate safety.

This incident is not an isolated event; Planet Fitness has faced multiple controversies over members of the opposite sex in women’s facilities and even revoked the membership of a woman who filmed a man shaving in a women’s locker room. Corporate statements insist on a “self-reported gender identity” policy and claim “zero tolerance for harassment,” but those platitudes ring hollow when women are left exposed and staff seem unsure how to respond.

Meanwhile, police reports and local news have chronicled other episodes at the same chain, including arrests for indecent exposure and alleged peeping incidents across multiple states. These are not partisan talking points; they are real safety incidents that families and regular gym-goers now have to worry about when they simply try to exercise and mind their own business.

This is what happens when common sense is sacrificed to progressive orthodoxy: businesses adopt policies that sound compassionate in a memo but leave ordinary women and girls vulnerable in enclosed, private spaces. Planet Fitness executives must answer for the obvious gap between their rhetoric and the lived reality of their customers, who rightly demand protection, privacy, and the ability to use sex-segregated facilities without fear.

Conservative Americans should not be shy about calling out corporate malpractice when it harms the public. We must pressure restaurants, gyms, and schools to restore common-sense protections—no more ambiguous language that lets bad actors exploit private spaces under the guise of identity politics.

Lawmakers and prosecutors need to stop wringing their hands and start enforcing the laws that protect decency and privacy. It’s time for clear rules: protect women’s locker rooms, prosecute indecent exposure, and hold corporations financially and publicly accountable when their policies put people at risk.

Hardworking Americans deserve to feel safe while doing something as ordinary as going to the gym; if Planet Fitness won’t protect its customers, then customers should vote with their feet and demand leaders who will put safety before ideology.
