The White House slammed the university presidents’ noncommittal responses regarding calls for genocide against Jews as spineless and appalling. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made it clear that she couldn’t vouch for the elite university heads who couldn’t even articulate whether advocating for the annihilation of Jews breached their schools’ codes of conduct.
She emphasized President Biden’s unwavering stance against antisemitism and his resolute support for Israel in the wake of Hamas’ despicable attacks. Jean-Pierre declared, “The president has displayed unparalleled leadership during this distressing surge in antisemitism. He has vehemently condemned it, setting an exceptional example for all leaders.”
She went on to vehemently denounce calls for genocide against Jews as abhorrent and diametrically opposed to American values. Jean-Pierre expressed disbelief at even having to articulate such an obvious stance, emphasizing, “Calls for genocide are repugnant, vile, and completely at odds with everything that this great country stands for. It’s absolutely mind-boggling that we even have to reiterate this.”

While discussing concerns about pro-Palestinian protests being tainted with antisemitism, Jean-Pierre evaded the universities’ management of their campuses and underscored the moral clarity that President Biden has provided. She concluded by asserting that statements advocating for the systematic murder of Jews are revolting and demanded united opposition against such appalling rhetoric.
