WNBA’s Troubling Use of Child to Push Gender Agenda Shocks Parents

So, picture this: a seven-year-old boy, decked out like he just stepped off a runway at Paris Fashion Week, struts his stuff during a halftime show at a WNBA game. We’re talking long eyelashes, a crop top, and even a pink purse. Now, don’t get it twisted; this kid probably couldn’t even spell “designer” if you asked him, but there he is, slaying the game like it’s nobody’s business. Meanwhile, adults in the audience are either cheering or squirming in their seats wondering what has gone horribly wrong in our world.

Back in the day—let’s say the golden age of cartoons and knee-high socks—if any of us dared to wear, well, anything outside of our Super Mario or Ninja Turtles gear, we would’ve been the subject of an entire school year’s worth of teasing. And don’t even get me started on dance moves! If anyone had let loose like this kid at a school sports event, there would have been whispers and the very real concern that someone should call Child Protective Services. “Someone please get a grip on this circus!” you would hear echoing down the bleachers.

Now, when you think about it, isn’t this a prime example of adults taking the reins too far? Sure, the kid looks happy (who wouldn’t be wearing sparkly makeup and shaking it in front of an audience?), but what about the intentions behind this spectacle? It seems fair to wonder if the adults around him are doing this for their own clout, kind of like some people post fancy food pictures just to impress folks on Instagram. To some, it feels like they might be using him as a prop in some performance art piece aimed at making a political statement. And that’s just a tad unsettling!

As if that weren’t enough, it’s hard not to chuckle (or grimace, depending on your point of view) at the way society sometimes treats children like accessories. It feels like we’re living in a cartoon where everything has been turned upside down. Instead of kids being kids, they’re being thrust into the adult world complete with adult themes and expectations. The adults in charge should know better! When did it become okay to put so much pressure on our little ones? Honestly, it makes one question if previous generations were just healthier and kept questionable decisions out of the spotlight.

Let’s cut to the chase here: every generation has its battles to fight. This child is undoubtedly adorable, but what happens when he reaches the age where he understands the nuances of a world that’s all about likes and followers? Will he be able to truly enjoy being a kid, or will he feel the weight of expectations? One can only hope that he grows up surrounded by people who will help him navigate this crazy dance of life with care and wisdom, instead of just plopping him down in front of flashing lights and dance moves that could be straight out of a viral TikTok.

So, while it’s easy to chuckle at this absurdity, it’s also a moment for some reflection. It’s a reminder that children should be nurtured rather than commodified. Because if we don’t watch out, the world may just continue to spin into a caricature of itself, where kids are just props in the grand performance of adulthood. And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll look back at this halftime show and wonder how we let it get so bizarre.
