WSJ Editorial Slams Kamala Harris for Role in Afghanistan Withdrawal Disaster

In an eyebrow-raising display of bewilderment, the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board unleashed a scathing critique on Vice President Kamala Harris regarding her inept contributions to President Biden’s catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan. The op-ed dropped on Monday, conveniently just as America faced the somber anniversary of a terrorist bombing that tragically resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. servicemen—an incident that many blame squarely on Biden’s chaotic exit strategy. While Harris tiptoed around this sobering occasion with insipid remarks honoring these fallen heroes, she entirely glossed over the many blunders that led to their deaths, declaring with outrageous confidence that she feels no remorse for the debacle.

Harris hailed the withdrawal as a courageous, right decision made by Biden, blissfully ignoring the chorus of naysayers, including a majority of his very own advisors. Call it convenient memory loss, but ignoring the obvious advice that a premature withdrawal would trigger the Afghan government’s collapse and the subsequent rise of the Taliban seems less like bravery and more like sheer negligence. Maintaining a few troops could have staved off the chaos, yet here we are, watching as the world witnessed what can only be described as a strategic failure of epic proportions.

The editorial pointedly remarked that this decision was one of the most glaring missteps of the Biden administration. With the geopolitical landscape resembling more of a circus than a strategy, Harris’s perspective raises serious questions about her judgment and capability as a potential Commander in Chief. The implication is striking: a leader who professes confidence in such a disastrous decision displays a profound disconnect from both reality and the military facts on the ground.

Adding fuel to this already raging inferno of incompetence, Marine Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, who was in Central Command during the withdrawal, painted a grim picture of the consequences. According to him, Russia’s aggressive moves, particularly the invasion of Ukraine, can be traced back to the vacuum of power and confidence created by Biden and Harris’s hasty retreat. Not to mention, the resurgence of ISIS-K in Afghanistan, alarming developments that should keep any responsible leader awake at night, instead seem to have rolled off Harris’s back like water off a duck.

In wrapping up, the Wall Street Journal editorial board got straight to the point: the needless loss of 13 American lives stands as a stark reminder of the disaster that was the withdrawal. But apparently, Harris’s emboldened embrace of this blunder is just a hint of what America can expect if she secures a victory in November. It’s almost comical to think that, after watching the debacle unfold, someone could still be so unwavering in their beliefs about their own competence. As the world grapples with the implications of this chaos, the only certainty is that Harris’s cluelessness could lead the country down a similarly disastrous path in the future.
