An armed man was arrested while watching security at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes as crews prepared for President Donald Trump’s fundraising visit. The quick work by federal agents, Los Angeles County deputies and the Secret Service stopped what could have become a very ugly headline. Plainclothes federal agents noticed a suspicious person walking the golf course and taking photos and video of security activity. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detained 38‑year‑old Jeanine John Taele of Downey. During a pat‑down, deputies say they found a 16‑round magazine loaded with hollow‑point ammunition. A search of his vehicle turned up a loaded pistol with a round chambered and another loaded magazine.
Weapons cache found, investigation underway
At Taele’s home investigators seized what LASD describes as an illegally modified AR‑platform rifle, an AR upper receiver, a 1911 .45 pistol, body armor, high‑capacity magazines, bulk ammunition, two radio signal devices and notebooks with “concerning statements.” The case is being handled with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Secret Service. LASD says, “Currently, investigators have identified no credible threat to our communities,” but prosecutors are reviewing additional charges.
