Belfast Horror: Shocking Video Reveals Attempted Beheading Incident

Last week a horrific knife attack in north Belfast was captured on video, showing a man pinning another to the ground and repeatedly slashing at his head and neck in what onlookers described as an attempted beheading. Police say the incident happened on the evening of June 8 in the Kinnaird Avenue area and arrested a man at the scene following the attack.

The victim, identified in court as Stephen Ogilvie, suffered deep cuts and has lost his left eye, according to prosecutors, while the accused—named as 30-year-old Hadi Alodid—has been charged with attempted murder and related offenses. Medical and court records make the brutality plain: this was not ordinary knife crime but a near-decapitation that left a man fighting for his life.

Footage of the assault spread within hours and sparked ugly scenes across Belfast as mobs torched vehicles and targeted homes, forcing firefighters to pull residents from burning houses and police to declare a critical public order situation. The public fury is real and raw, because ordinary citizens saw a savage act on camera and rightly demanded answers from leaders who for years have prioritized optics over safety.

Yet almost immediately the official and media response leaned toward soothing language: the victim’s own family pleaded for calm and urged that migrants “make a deeply valuable contribution to our country,” a line that reads like a talking point rather than the grief of loved ones confronting a man who nearly lost his head. That instinct—to sanitize and universalize a crime so shocking—facilitates political cover, delays accountability, and persuades ordinary voters that elites value narrative control more than truth.

Conservatives should not be shy about calling this what it is: a failure of enforcement and a failure of candor. When law-abiding citizens are told to swallow euphemisms while officials hedge over nationality, immigration status, and motive, trust in institutions erodes and the room for extremists to exploit real grievances grows larger by the day.

We can grieve for the victim and still insist on firm answers: full transparency from authorities, immediate review of how someone in this country was allowed to remain if they posed a danger, and a crackdown on the permissive policies that invite repeat tragedies. The left’s reflex to soothe and obfuscate must not trump common-sense measures that protect families, preserve order, and ensure this kind of medieval violence is never casually called “a knife attack” again.
