House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) expressed his outrage at President Biden’s speech on the border crisis, calling it “offensive.” Johnson stated that the American people are well aware that the situation at the border worsened under Biden’s leadership. He pointed out that only 18 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the border, and his overall approval rating is low as well. Johnson found it laughable that Biden would try to blame Republicans for the border catastrophe, emphasizing that it is Biden’s responsibility to take ownership and address the issue.
Johnson’s criticism came after he helped derail a Senate funding package that would have provided aid to Ukraine and Israel. He labeled the package “dead on arrival” and even worse than expected. Senate Republicans eventually abandoned the bill due to the threat of a filibuster. In response to the collapse of the proposal, Biden criticized Trump and “MAGA Republicans,” falsely claiming that they mindlessly follow Trump.
Despite Biden’s attempt to shift blame, Johnson revealed that he has repeatedly pressed Biden to take action to secure the border. Johnson stated that Biden has acknowledged his executive authority to address the crisis but refuses to do so. He stressed that it is entirely Biden’s burden to bear and that he should fulfill his duty to protect the country.
These rat eastwards are great at writing gotcha headlines, but they really #SUCK at passing meaningful legislation for America.

Johnson further asserted that Biden intentionally undermined border security from his very first day in office. He cited a list of more than 60 executive actions taken by Biden that opened up the border and encouraged illegal immigration. According to Johnson, this proves that Biden and his administration created the crisis “by design.” Johnson found Biden’s speech offensive because it attempted to shift blame, much like Hillary Clinton’s infamous “deplorables” comment.
In light of the border crisis, Johnson believes that the 2024 presidential election will be a referendum on border security and national security in general. He criticized Biden for projecting weakness on the world stage, leading to dangerous provocations from America’s adversaries. Johnson vowed to keep fighting to hold the Biden administration accountable and highlighted the upcoming Articles of Impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, whom he considers the worst cabinet secretary in American history.
