Biden-Harris Fumble Hurricane Response DeSantis Steps In

The Biden-Harris administration has displayed a remarkable talent for mishandling disaster responses that would make a circus clown blush. From the chaotic aftermath of the Lahaina tragedy in Maui to the chilling indifference toward the East Palestine disaster, and now the underwhelming response to Hurricane Helene in Asheville, North Carolina, the evidence is piling up. This administration has mastered the art of sitting on the sidelines when help is most needed, and instead, they prefer to dabble in ineffectual photo opportunities.

In an amusing twist, Kamala Harris has taken it upon herself to showcase her ‘leadership’ skills during the Hurricane Helene response. Just after ensuring her hair was photo-ready, she casually tweeted about her “important” briefing with FEMA and her oh-so-inspiring talks with the North Carolina governor. However, her idea of leadership conveniently coincided with her fundraising efforts on the opposite coast in San Francisco. So much for being on the front lines—it’s hard to lend a helping hand when one’s busy collecting donations for the next campaign.

Things have gotten so out of hand in North Carolina that even Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis is stepping in to save the day. Despite facing their own hurricane aftermath, DeSantis has issued a rallying call for federal attention to shift to North Carolina, because apparently, Florida has everything well under control. The Governor coolly stated that the Sunshine State isn’t in desperate need and emphasized that federal resources should be diverted to where the real crisis is unfolding. This is the kind of decisiveness that seems to be lacking from the capital these days.

DeSantis also humorously illustrated the situation by pointing out that, while Florida may be dealing with its own fallout, North Carolina’s conditions are perilous and ripe for federal intervention. One can only imagine how those at FEMA must feel, sitting inactive while the Governor is out there running rescue flights. DeSantis’s pragmatism starkly contrasts with the paint-dry process of crisis management that’s rarely seen in the current administration.

Sad to say, the people of North Carolina might be left waiting for assistance for a while. Biden recently proclaimed that his administration had done everything possible for the hurricane victims, as if that satisfies anyone’s sense of urgency for help. With a one-two punch of both denial and negligence, the Biden-Harris administration has certainly made it clear that taking a backseat is their chosen route when it comes to aiding those in peril.

In summary, as the dust settles on yet another disaster response gone wrong, the only thing less effective than their resource allocation is Kamala’s carefully staged photo op—both have proven entirely irrelevant to the suffering people of North Carolina.
