In a shocking display of federal overreach and disregard for the safety and security of Texas, Governor Greg Abbott was compelled to order the reinstallation of a razor wire fence in Eagle Pass. The previous fence, constructed by Texas to prevent illegal incursions, was savagely destroyed by federal officials, necessitating this measure. It is evident that the Biden Administration is more concerned with appeasing their open-borders allies than upholding the rule of law.

Governor Abbott took to social media to express his displeasure with the Biden Administration's actions, correctly pointing out that demolishing the fence has thrown open the floodgates to illegal immigrants. Texas has repeatedly clashed with the federal government over its right to defend its citizens and maintain the integrity of its borders, as the Lone Star State struggles to secure its borders.

Despite the Biden Administration's feeble assertions that the flow of migrants has been slowed, yet another massive caravan of illegal aliens has amassed at the frontier. The images from critical border crossings provide irrefutable proof of the crisis that the Biden administration refuses to recognize.
Bill Melugin, a correspondent for Fox News, has been in Eagle Pass to report on the unfolding pandemonium. According to him, it is a complete free-for-all, with mass illegal crossings taking place for over an hour and a half. The fact that thousands of Venezuelans are currently congregating under the Eagle Pass bridge only serves to emphasize the gravity of the situation. When will the Biden Administration act to secure our borders?
Governor Abbott, committed to defending Texas, has once again deployed Texas National Guard members to assist with this crisis. However, this burden should not rest solely on the shoulders of Texas. It is time for the federal government to fulfill its responsibility to protect American citizens by securing the border.
In addition, Texas and other border states have been compelled to take matters into their own hands by transporting illegal immigrants to so-called "sanctuary cities" and states. By refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), these jurisdictions overtly defy federal immigration law. It is an outrageous violation of the rule of law to enable sanctuary cities to continue protecting criminals while law-abiding citizens suffer the consequences.
A federal judge made a misguided decision last month when he ordered Texas to remove razor-wire barriers from the Rio Grande River, barriers that have proven effective at preventing illegal immigration. Thankfully, a higher court had the common sense to overrule this decision, allowing Texas to retain the barrier in place. Clearly, some judges are more concerned with protecting the interests of illegal immigrants than with upholding our nation's sovereignty and security.
The border situation is a crisis despite the Biden Administration's attempts to diminish it. Governor Abbott is working tirelessly to defend the state of Texas, but he cannot do so alone. It is time for the federal government to prioritize the safety and security of American citizens and secure our border immediately. The American people do not deserve less.
