Biden Mishandled Classified Documents, GOP Rep Demands Assessment

Republican Congressman Michael Waltz alleged on Wednesday that President Joe Biden mishandled highly classified information both at his Washington D.C. office and in his Wilmington garage. The documents, which were removed from his basement by former Special Counsel Hur, were deemed highly classified and linked to existing national security threats. Rep. Waltz has called for an immediate damage assessment from the Intelligence Community.

During the investigation, former Special Counsel Robert Hur uncovered instances where Biden mishandled classified information but opted not to pursue charges, citing concerns about his mental fitness and the potential for sympathetic jury appeals. The probe revealed Biden's deliberate retention and disclosure of classified materials post his vice presidency when he was a private citizen. These materials included marked classified documents concerning military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, as well as notebooks with handwritten entries on national security and foreign policy matters implicating sensitive intelligence sources and methods. These items were discovered in Biden's garage, offices, and basement den at his Wilmington, Delaware residence.

The investigation also deliberated on the potential jury perception of Biden as an elderly man with a poor memory, likely to be viewed sympathetically. The report suggested that given their interactions with him, it would be challenging to convince a jury to convict him of a serious felony requiring a willful mental state.
