President Joe Biden came out of his basement long enough to remember he can actually do something about the border crisis, and boy, are conservatives excited to see some action! Whether Biden had to consult some old European leaders or just needed a wake-up call from his nap, he’s finally considering issuing executive orders to handle the illegal immigration mess at our southern border.

Now, the big question is what these orders will actually be and if they will even make a dent in the problem! It’s about time Biden figured out he could do this, but it still begs the question – why did it take so long? The value of the information provided by anonymous sources is about as reliable as Biden’s memory these days, so conservatives are taking this reported ‘Plan B’ with a grain of salt.
It’s no surprise that this administration has taken so long to realize they have the power to issue executive orders on immigration. It seems like they were dragging their feet, claiming they couldn’t do anything until they got what they wanted for the Ukrainians. But that’s just not true. If Biden had the guts to reauthorize every immigration executive order Trump put in place, we might actually start to see some progress on the border!
The fact that the proposed border security bill in Congress included taxpayer-funded lawyers for young migrants, a new class of permanent residents for children of H-1B visa holders, and a pathway to citizenship for unvetted Afghan refugees is a slap in the face to conservatives. Only a small fraction of the bill was allocated to the border, while a whopping amount was earmarked for Ukraine. It’s clear as day that this bill is just a disguised foreign aid package.
