For Republicans, particularly former President Donald Trump, even questioning the legitimacy of an election can lead to severe consequences. The 14th Amendment is cited as a threat, and Republicans are warned that they will never be able to run for office again. On top of that, federal charges could be looming. Talk about a harsh punishment!
Watch: Biden Starts His Virginia Rally Denying Election Results, Calls Democrat Loser Terry McAuliffe the 'Real Governor' https://t.co/BksNSL0a6d

On the other hand, for Democrats like Stacey Abrams or Joe Biden, election denial is apparently not a problem at all. They are free to question and challenge election results without any repercussions. In fact, Biden’s recent campaign rally in Virginia, which received limited media coverage, started off with him pointing out Terry McAuliffe as the “real governor” despite losing the election to Republican Glenn Youngkin. McAuliffe’s defeat was due to his own mistakes, not any sort of election tampering, yet the media didn’t make a fuss about it.
This double standard has been evident for years. For instance, when Kari Lake refused to concede the Arizona gubernatorial election due to equipment malfunctions, she was labeled as a threat to democracy. However, when Abrams did almost the same thing in Georgia in 2018, she faced no criticism from mainstream media outlets and even got a cameo on “Star Trek: Discovery.”
This inconsistency is nothing new. The media has a long history of treating election denials differently based on party affiliation. From the hanging chads controversy in 2000 to the alleged Russian meddling in 2016, Democrats have been given leeway while Republicans are heavily scrutinized. It’s a troubling pattern that undermines the principles of democracy.
The media’s double standard when it comes to election deniers is concerning. Republicans are met with harsh consequences and criticism while Democrats are given a pass. This disparity undermines the integrity of our elections and the trust of the American people. It’s time for the media to be consistent and treat all election deniers equally, regardless of party affiliation.
