In a blow to the Biden administration, a federal judge has ordered the release of documents regarding its funding of Palestinian organizations. This ruling, issued by U.S. District Court Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk, was in response to a lawsuit filed by America First Legal and Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson. It seems like the Biden administration can’t catch a break these days!
The main issue at hand is the Taylor Force Act, which was signed into law by former President Donald Trump in 2018. Named after an American who tragically lost his life in a terror attack, this legislation prohibits U.S. tax dollars from being sent to the Palestinian Authority if it continues to provide stipends to the families of terrorists. Trump took swift action to halt both direct aid to the Palestinian Authority and indirect funding through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Interestingly, President Joe Biden decided to reverse Trump’s policy and resume sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Palestinian groups, including those known to support terrorism. This decision has raised many concerns, especially considering the potentially dangerous repercussions.
America First Legal and Rep. Ronny Jackson are particularly interested in obtaining information regarding $1 billion of Economic Support Funds sent to Palestinian groups, as well as an additional $700 million given to the UNRWA. After the recent ruling, they can finally access the documents they’ve been seeking.
Interestingly, The Washington Free Beacon recently obtained State Department documents that suggested U.S. aid may have ended up in the hands of the terror group Hamas. This revelation adds another layer of urgency to the case.
It’s ironic how just weeks after Biden’s decision to provide funds to Palestinian organizations, Hamas made headlines for going on a violent rampage in southern Israel. Over 1300 people lost their lives, and many were taken hostage by the terrorist group. It’s clear that supporting these organizations can have devastating consequences for innocent people.
The Biden administration’s funding of Palestinian organizations raises serious concerns about its stance on terrorism and the safety of American tax dollars. It’s important for the public to hold the administration accountable and demand transparency regarding where our money is going. The ruling by Judge Kacsmaryk is a step in the right direction, shedding light on the truth and hopefully preventing any further misguided funding decisions.
