Bishop Paprocki Criticizes Biden for Misusing Catholic Symbols at Abortion Rally

Bishop Thomas Paprocki from Springfield, Illinois, criticized President Joe Biden for identifying as a “devout” Catholic while supporting abortion. The bishop accused the president of disrespecting the Catholic faith by using the Sign of the Cross to promote a practice considered evil by the Church. In a video titled “Biden Mocks Our Catholic Faith,” the bishop highlighted occasions when the president’s actions contradicted his faith, specifically during an abortion rally in Florida.

During the rally, Biden made the Sign of the Cross while criticizing the governor of Florida for signing a bill that restricts abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. The bishop expressed that using the sacred gesture in such a manner is disrespectful to the Catholic faith. Paprocki emphasized that the president should adhere to the truths revealed by God, including the sanctity of life from the moment of conception.

Additionally, the bishop highlighted the remarks of Cardinal Wilton Gregory from the Archdiocese of Washington, who accused Biden of selectively adhering to Catholic beliefs. Paprocki stressed the importance of upholding the truths revealed by God, rather than subscribing to a relative approach to faith.

Furthermore, Biden has pledged to support legislation that would reinstate abortion laws previously set forth in the now-defunct Roe v. Wade decision if he is re-elected. Bishop Paprocki’s critique reflects the concern among conservative Catholics regarding Biden’s stance on abortion and the contradiction it poses to his claim of devout Catholicism.
