Border Czar Tom Homan Slams NYC Abolition Push, Demands Cameras

Tom Homan didn’t mince words on Fox this week. The Border Czar went on the offensive after an ICE agent shot and wounded a man during a targeted enforcement operation in Marble Hill, shutting down fresh calls from New York’s mayor and others to abolish ICE.

Homan’s point: ICE enforces laws Congress wrote

Homan’s argument was simple and blunt: Congress sets the immigration laws; ICE enforces them. He called the abolition talk a political theater that ignores victims, repeat offenders, and the practical job of law enforcement. If you want fewer enforcement actions, change the law — don’t kneecap the officers who show up when a warrant is served.

Sanctuary policies aren’t an abstract policy paper

This isn’t about doctrine; it’s about a car stop in Upper Manhattan where an ICE officer fired multiple rounds and a 5-year-old sat in the back seat. The suspect — reported to be a Dominican national with prior convictions — was wounded and taken to a hospital. When city leaders answer that scene by demanding to abolish the agency, ordinary New Yorkers hear a mayor telling them the rules shouldn’t be enforced, even when federal officers say they’re pursuing people with criminal records.

Investigations, transparency, and real consequences

Federal prosecutors, HSI and the FBI are on the scene, and DHS has defended the operation as targeted. That matters — not because agencies cover for each other, but because the public needs cameras, body-worn footage, a timeline, and an honest accounting. Otherwise trust dissolves and politics rushes in to fill the vacuum with slogans instead of facts.

So here’s the hard part: if you want safety, you need both accountability and enforcement working together, not political theater that picks one and pretends the other doesn’t matter. Will Mayor Mamdani push for those cameras and transparency, or only headlines and abolition? Ordinary families deserve a clear answer.
