The loony left is at it again, folks! California Democrat Rep. Barbara Lee has completely lost touch with reality by proposing to raise the state’s minimum wage to a mind-blowing $50 per hour. That’s over six times the current federal minimum wage—unbelievable!
In her bid to fill the late Senator Feinstein’s seat, Lee is pushing this outrageous idea, claiming it would be “economically sustainable” for small businesses. Seriously, does she have any grasp of basic economics?

According to Lee, workers in the Bay Area need at least $104,000 a year to barely scrape by. Yeah, right! As if everyone in California is living in luxury and sipping on champagne. She’s clearly living in a bubble if she thinks this is realistic for hardworking small business owners.
During a debate with her fellow Democrats, Lee had the audacity to demand that they “do the math.” Well, Barbara, the math clearly shows that your proposal is out of touch with reality.
Her opponents, even fellow Democrats, had some sense and supported a higher minimum wage, but at a much more reasonable rate. Lee’s proposed rate would be such a massive jump from California’s current minimum wage, which ranges from $16 to $20. It’s like she’s living in a fantasy land where money grows on trees!
Thankfully, the only Republican running for the Senate seat, former professional baseball player Steve Garvey, has some sense. He knows that the minimum wage is where it should be. It’s about time someone brings some common sense to the table!
It’s no surprise that Democrats have been trying to raise the federal minimum wage for years, but thankfully, Republicans have blocked their outrageous attempts, like trying to sneak it into COVID relief legislation. Let’s be real, folks, small businesses are struggling enough without having to pay their workers an absurd $50 an hour!
California already passed a law requiring some restaurants to pay a $20 minimum wage, but even that is extreme. Where does it end? It seems like the Democrats are living in a never-never land of unicorn and rainbows!
