Chaos Erupts in ICE Shooting: Shocking Footage Raises Questions

Newly released surveillance and security-camera footage has emerged showing the deadly ICE shooting in Biddeford, Maine on July 13, 2026 that left Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero dead. The unedited clips, captured by nearby businesses and circulated to major outlets, show chaotic moments before and after gunfire that have triggered outrage and nationwide attention.

The videos depict a small sedan circling an intersection, officers approaching the vehicle and then, within seconds, gunshots ringing out as agents pull the driver from the car and crouch over him. Witness and storefront footage also show a white SUV appearing to ram the smaller car and several agents converging on the scene, leaving residents shaken and searching for answers.

Federal officials have said the man killed was not the intended target of the operation and that agents encountered him while conducting targeted surveillance, a fact that only deepens the concerns about how these operations are planned and executed. Local leaders and members of Maine’s congressional delegation have demanded clarity as family members and the Colombian Embassy press for information about who this young man was.

It is also true — and important — that the officers involved were not equipped with body cameras, an absence that fuels suspicion and fuels a partisan feeding frenzy calling for abolition rather than answers. The Department of Homeland Security responded by temporarily pausing most vehicle stops while investigations proceed, a recognition that procedure and public trust have been badly harmed.

Investigations are now underway at multiple levels: the DHS inspector general and the FBI have roles, the state attorney general’s office is involved, and the officer who fired has been placed on leave while the facts are collected. Americans who believe in law and order should want a full, transparent investigation that respects due process for the officer and justice for the victim’s family.

But make no mistake — the left and their political operatives have wasted no time weaponizing this tragedy to demand an immediate end to ICE and to score cheap political points against Republicans, including Sen. Susan Collins. Patriots who respect our laws must reject the rush to virtue-signaling abolition and instead demand accountability, discipline where warranted, and the tools agents need to keep communities safe.

We can and should stand firmly with our law enforcement officers while insisting on reforms that prevent tragic mistakes: body cameras, better oversight, and training that emphasizes de-escalation and precision. That balance — support for the men and women who enforce the law paired with hard-eyed oversight — is what keeps communities safe without surrendering our sovereign right to control the border and enforce immigration laws.
