During a recent podcast, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed that Dr. Anthony Fauci had provided false information to Congress regarding the financing of gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China. Cruz asserted that the EcoHealth Alliance, which received funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), used some of the funds to support research at the WIV, which ultimately played a role in the development of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.
