The Democrats continue to spin their wheels, unsure of what went wrong in the 2024 elections. While members of the left faction blame Joe Biden for not stepping aside earlier, it seems they aren’t willing to look in the mirror and face the harsh reality of their own failures. The blame game is strong, but it appears that many of them are too wrapped up in their own delusions to see the truth.
Recently, Kevin O’Leary of Shark Tank fame had his moment on CNN, dissecting the mishaps of the Biden-Harris campaign. His analysis was eye-opening (though not necessarily for the Democrats, who probably spent the segment trying to find a way to blame Trump). O’Leary argued that the Democrats’ lack of a process and their choice to stick with a failed vice presidential candidate set them on a crash course for disaster. A whopping $317 million in the campaign war chest, unfortunately, could not buy competence.
There are lots of reasons Vice President Kamala Harris lost the election, but supporting trans people wasn’t one. And scapegoating them now is just wrong.

One particular event stood out in O’Leary’s tirade against Kamala Harris. He recalled her appearance on The View—a demoralizing moment where Harris flailed under the lightest of pressures. Instead of batting away softballs lobbed her way, she struggled to deliver even the simplest of responses. The world beheld the catastrophe, which went a long way toward solidifying her status as a political punching bag. Democrats can’t afford another round of that kind of embarrassment, but don’t hold your breath for them to learn a lesson.
The crux of O’Leary’s argument points to a procedural breakdown, a failure to plan properly. However, a deeper issue lurks beneath the surface: Kamala Harris simply shouldn’t have been on the ticket in the first place. Her glaring flaws were evident as far back as 2019 when her presidential aspirations went belly-up before they even got off the ground. Even those who briefly rallied behind her had to know that they had placed their bets on a one-way ticket to nowhere.
Looking back at the vice-presidential selection process, it’s telling that potential candidates like Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro and North Carolina’s Roy Cooper turned down the opportunity to run alongside her. Neither wanted to hitch their star to a sinking ship that could damage their own careers. Shapiro is eyeing re-election in 2026, and Cooper has his eyes set on the Senate. Both men opted out, and both states went red in the recent election. Coincidence? Hardly. Even within Democrat ranks, the sense of doom was palpable.
The inevitability of Trump’s victory can almost be traced back to the inception of the Biden-Harris administration. From the inflation crisis to border mismanagement and a botched Afghanistan withdrawal, the Biden administration dropped the ball at every turn. While voters may not have cited Afghanistan directly in their ballots, it remains an indelible stain on Biden’s legacy that tanked his approval ratings and set the stage for Trump’s resurgence.
Kamala Harris was never going to be the obstacle obstructing Trump’s path to victory. Her disastrous moments, like that stint on The View, were merely the cherry on top of an already rotten cake. From the get-go, the Democrats shot themselves in the foot with their choice of candidate and their contempt for basic voter sentiment, ensuring that they would be left scratching their heads while watching Trump take the win.
