Left-wing news networks are experiencing a meltdown of epic proportions following former President Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the political stage. As conservatives everywhere relish this turn of events, the ratings for sponsors of liberal theatrics, particularly MSNBC, and CNN, have plummeted, leaving their anchors wondering if they’ve been dropped into an alternate universe where nobody wants to hear their latest take on the “perils of Trump.”

Recent Nielsen ratings reveal that MSNBC’s viewership took a nosedive worse than a skydiver without a parachute, clocking in a staggering 23 percent drop in ratings from the previous year. For a network that has spent years fostering a rabid anti-Trump environment, this sudden exodus of viewers suggests many are opting for real news instead of the constant barrage of slander they have grown tired of. Even their primetime viewership fell 54 percent—one must wonder if the network’s late-night hosts are taking pity on their dwindling audience and considering a career in stand-up comedy.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, CNN’s situation is grimmer, with ratings sinking by an alarmingly dramatic 43 percent the same day. Perhaps they should consider hiring a water wings specialist because their current trajectory suggests they will disappear beneath the waves of irrelevance. Sadly, their programming is now drawing in fewer viewers than the average daytime soap opera. Memorable moments include Alex Wagner’s show reaching an embarrassing low since its launch. Fox News appears to be growing and thriving, with a recent 60 percent uptick in viewership.

And while these liberal networks, with their hand-wringing hosts, thought Election Day would be their moment of glory, they barely managed to drag themselves up to watch as Fox News surged past them with a whopping 10.3 million viewers tuning in that Tuesday. With viewers realizing there’s better content available, the liberal outlets must be scouring the TV programming calendar for inspiration, perhaps even considering a cooking segment to distract from their inadequacies.

The Friday following the election was just as catastrophic for MSNBC, which saw seven of its programs hit rock bottom, marking the year’s worst ratings for Friday programming (excluding those holiday weeks no one wants to admit exist). When the only viewership left is homebodies flipping between reruns of “Friends,” it’s clear the liberal networks are faced with an existential crisis. With hope for a “Kamala Harris-centered future” now a fading fantasy, the anxiety is palpable as liberal audiences brace for Trump’s impending return to power.

It would seem that the left-wing media might want to take a moment to reflect on this downturn. As they navigate through their internal crises, the shift in viewer sentiment suggests that many are tired of the toxicity and incessant fear-mongering. Meanwhile, the right can toast to their current joyride in ratings while the left wallows in its ratings oblivion, wondering just how they managed to let a Trump victory signal the beginning of the end for their viewer engagement.
