Oh boy, looks like the Democrats are in hot water once again! According to CNN, their nominee for the special election in New York’s swing district is feeling a little nervous about his chances. Former Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi is running against GOP nominee Mazi Melesa Pilip to replace the ousted Republican Rep. George Santos, who was kicked out of office over fraud allegations. And let me tell you, Suozzi is not feeling confident about his party’s prospects in this district.

Suozzi admitted to CNN that Democrats have been losing everything on Long Island and northeast Queens for the past three years. Ouch! Sounds like the Democratic brand is in trouble, my friends. And you know what’s really got the voters fired up? Immigration. Yep, it’s their top concern, according to an Emerson College survey. That’s why the Republicans are outspending the Democrats by almost three times on advertising for the special election. They know what the voters care about, and they’re not afraid to talk about it.
But wait, it gets even better. Suozzi is not too pleased with President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration either. He expressed his discontent to CNN and even said he doesn’t want the president to campaign with him in the swing district. Ouch again! Looks like Suozzi knows that Biden’s immigration policies are not winning him any points with the voters. Maybe he should take a page out of the Republican playbook and propose a comprehensive, bipartisan solution. Just a thought.
Now, let’s talk about Suozzi’s opponent, Mazi Melesa Pilip. She served in the Israel Defense Forces and later immigrated to the U.S. Now, that’s a true American success story! Pilip is ready to take on Suozzi and give the voters a fresh perspective. And it looks like she’s gaining some traction. According to the Emerson College survey, Suozzi is only leading Pilip by a slim margin among registered voters. It’s a toss-up, folks!
But you don’t have to take my word for it. The Cook Political Report has labeled this seat as a “Toss Up” for 2024. The Democrats better watch out because it’s not looking good for them. Maybe they should start listening to the concerns of the voters instead of pushing their own agenda. Just a thought, Democrats.
