The Democratic Socialists of America just published a new national program called “Workers Deserve More,” and it is not garden-variety policy talk. It lays out sweeping plans to remake American government — and when Fox News asked House Democrats about it, several ducked the questions like a game of political dodgeball. Voters deserve to know what this plan actually says and why elected Democrats are so eager to avoid the conversation.
DSA’s “Workers Deserve More” is a real platform — and a radical one
The DSA’s program openly calls for big structural changes: a single, proportional federal legislature that would abolish the Senate; replacing the presidency and the Supreme Court with bodies “chosen by and subordinate to” that new Congress; abolishing ICE; ending deportations; extending voting to noncitizens; public control of big corporations; and even “defund the Department of War.” That is not political theater. The DSA published the text and said the program will guide which candidates get the group’s endorsements. In plain English: run with this or don’t expect DSA help.
House Democrats dodge on camera — and that tells you something
Fox News asked Representative Ro Khanna, Representative Ilhan Omar, and Representative Pete Aguilar about the program. Khanna said, “I don’t support that” and admitted he hadn’t read the proposal. Omar declined to answer on camera. Aguilar said he’s “not a member of the DSA” and wouldn’t comment on their documents, then shrugged that he wasn’t worried about socialist candidates changing the Democratic agenda. Translation: either they haven’t read a plan that could reshape American government, or they’re pretending not to see a political problem headed their way.
Why this matters to voters and the Constitution
Make no mistake: the institutional parts of the DSA plan would require far-reaching constitutional changes, not ordinary laws. You can’t abolish the Senate or replace the presidency with a pen stroke. That’s a massive overhaul of how America works. Still, the DSA says endorsed candidates will be expected to promote this program. If mainstream Democrats keep pretending the plan isn’t theirs, voters will have to decide whether those candidates are serious about defending the Constitution they swore to uphold.
Republicans should use this moment to press the contrast. Ask Democratic candidates if they support the DSA’s program and if they will pledge to defend the Constitution. Voters want straight answers. If members of Congress won’t read a major political program or won’t say where they stand, the public should assume the worst — and act accordingly at the ballot box.
