Feds Under Fire: Left’s Political Crusade Against Border Agents

The clip on Carl Higbie’s FRONTLINE where former CBP chief Gregory Bovino warns that the Left is “ready to prosecute” and vilify federal agents wasn’t fluff — it was a blunt political warning dressed up as news. Bovino, speaking to a conservative audience, accused Democrats of rushing to judgment and attacking the character of hardworking border agents simply for doing their jobs.

Make no mistake about the facts: the high-profile deadly encounters that sparked this outrage occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota — not Maine — with the shootings of Renée Good on January 7, 2026 and Alex Pretti on January 24, 2026 becoming national flashpoints. Those two incidents set off a torrent of partisan finger-pointing, conflicting video analysis, and demands for indictments before investigators had finished their work.

Bovino has consistently defended the agents, arguing they faced real threats on the ground and warning that political grandstanding only endangers law enforcement. The White House moved quickly to reshuffle leadership in Minneapolis, replacing Bovino’s on‑the‑ground command with Border Czar Tom Homan amid the backlash — a tacit admission that optics and politics had overtaken operational needs.

Conservative patriots should be furious at the double standard: when federal agents stop violent criminals in Democrat-run cities they are called occupiers and assassins, yet when mobs obstruct lawful enforcement those same activists get a pass. Bovino and others are right to call out the rush to vilify — prosecutorial zeal driven by politics threatens to criminalize duty and surrender public safety to performative outrage.

Let’s also be honest about street reality: activists who block, surround, and interfere with law enforcement put officers and innocent bystanders at risk, and that reckless behavior has consequences. America needs rule of law, clear accountability, and backing for trained officers who show up to do dangerous jobs — not immediate calls from partisan politicians to indict before the facts are known.

That said, conservatives should insist on impartial, transparent investigations that protect both victims and officers; demanding facts is not the same as abandoning justice. If Democrats want credibility on accountability, they’ll stop using tragedy as a political cudgel and allow legal processes to run their course while supporting the brave men and women who keep our communities safe.
