First off, let’s set the record straight. Rural America is the backbone of this great nation, and these hardworking folks deserve some respect, not baseless accusations. Trying to paint them as racist, xenophobic, and every other -ist you can think of is just plain disrespectful.
And let’s talk about this so-called threat to democracy. If anyone’s a threat, it’s these out-of-touch elitists who think they know what’s best for everyone else. Rural voters have every right to voice their opinions and concerns without being demonized for it.
And don’t even get started on the whole QAnon and conspiracy theory nonsense. Just because someone lives in a small town doesn’t mean they’re wearing a tin foil hat and listening to wild theories all day. Maybe they’re just tired of being talked down to by the mainstream media and want to think for themselves.
As for Schaller’s claim about rural Americans excusing violence? That’s just a low blow. These are hardworking, law-abiding citizens who believe in the rule of law, not chaos and anarchy.
The real threat to democracy is not the rural voters, but those who seek to silence and shame them for having a different point of view. Let’s celebrate diversity of thought and listen to all voices, not just the ones that fit a certain narrative.
